One Creative Mind

As I have posted before Jonathan loves to create things.  Almost everyday he comes home from school with some idea of something he wants to make.  Some are doable and others are not.

About a month ago he came home with the idea to make a jet pack.  He used a piece of cardboard from a diaper box, an apple juice bottle and some string.  So cool!

Up, Up, and Away!

This summer Jonathan talked us into letting him use his money to buy a pocket knife at Mt. Rushmore as a souvenir.  It has his name carved in it and a picture of Mt.Rushmore.  It is pretty cool.  He has been begging us forever to have his own knife but being the mean parents that we are we have not let him have one yet.  I don't know what came over us but we finally said yes with lots of rules to go along with it.  One being that he is not allowed to use it without our supervision and as you can see from the picture I make him wear his protective goggles and gloves.  He loves is sooooo much!  (Don't you love the face.  He is so silly).

He has been carving all kinds of things.  This time he glued popsicle sticks together and carved one of the ends into a point to make a little sword.

Viola!

And if you know anything about Jonathan you know that he loves loves loves pirates so when a paper came home in his folder from school about a workshop at the Playhouse in the Park on "How to be a Pirate," I just had to sign him up.  After the workshop they got to be a part of a play that was performed by a group of teenagers.
Here is Jonathan with the cast.

Here are all of the little pirates in training.  He had so much fun.

Arrrg Mattie!  Shiver me timbers!
