Winter Quarters & Martins Cove

After Nauvoo we headed west, as we traveled we took the opportunity to stop at a few more church history sites.  The first was the Winter Quarters temple and visitors center in Nebraska.
We traveled with my parents and my mom's 2 sisters Janet and Joan.

Beautiful windows on the temple.

At the visitor's center they had little wooden wagons with wooden pieces representing things that the pioneers might have taken on the trek west.  They had to figure out what they wanted to take and figure out how to fit it all in.  Alli and Jonathan loved this and could have stayed there all day.
Our 2nd stop was Martin's Cove in Wyoming

They have handcarts that you can push.

They even have little handcarts for the kids to pull.  Livy loved this.

We took our handcart to the cove.

Livy got the best ride to the cove.  My aunt Joan just had knee surgery so she got a ride on a rover and Lizy wanted to go with her.  It turned out to be great because she wouldn't have made it 4 miles.  Half of it you have to walk.
Here we are at the cove.  There was the most incredible feeling at the cove.  Remember the sacrifice of all of those pioneers that were stranded there during terrible winter weather and also the sacrifice of those who came to rescue them.

Nicholas was tired out after a long day.  Jonathan rode in the cart to hold him.

Grandpa was also tired.
This is somewhere in Wyoming at a rest stop.  They had some cool rocks that the kids loved climbing and hiding in.
