March Fun

The other day I had a proud mom moment. You know the ones where we get to brag about our kids, thinking that no other kids are as smart or wonderful as your own. I have lots of them but I just had to share this one.

Alli has been interested in the "Little House on the Praire" books so we have been reading them. In one of the books Laura talks about how they made paper dolls to play with. It must have made an impression on Alli because a couple of days later she decided that she was going to make a paper doll. This is what she came up with. Isn't she cute? Look at those cute pink shoes. But she didn't stop there...
Then she decided that her paper doll needed a house so she made this house. She even put a flower in the front yard. I was just so amazed with her creativity and the detail that she thought of. She had to figure out how to make the house stand up and she did it all on her own. She even made sure that there was a door so that she could go in and out. That is why the one side is so short. Her creativity is really coming out these days. She is always thinking of fun little projects to do and she loves to color and draw. We are so proud of her. Okay, enough gooshing for now.
And of course Jonathan had to have one too...this is the one that she helped him make.
Here are my little angels taking their Sunday afternoon nap. Or are they...

Just kidding! Kids taking a nap? No way! Dad was trying to take a nap but I don't think that it ever happened. :)
Aren't they just so cute, all cuddled up on the couch?
The clean up crew made it to our house to clean up all of the branches from the ice storm. They have been very busy. Almost every house had a pile in their front lawn. Just a reminder what ours looked like.
The big truck parked right in our driveway. The kids thought that was so cool. We sat outside the whole time and eating popcicles and watching them work.
While they were working Jonathan got his lawn mower out and mowed our lawn. I guess he didn't want to just sit around while they were working hard. He had to get in on the action too. He didn't just stop after ours was done either, he mowed the neigbors lawn too. :) What a hard worker. He is a funny kid!
Our little Olivia is quite the mover these days. We were helping the kids organize their room and we turned around and this is what we saw... (She loves her sister and brother's thing.)
This is what she saw. Lots of fun things to put in her mouth and chew on.
We lured her out with a colorful ball.
She had so much fun playing in their room. She doesn't get to go in there very often. There are too many little things to get into. How could you not love that face?
The day before I came into the living room to find this: I guess she was going to try to catch up on her Civil War knowledge. Who knew that she was such a Civil War buff.
"I wasn't doing anything."
She is now 7 months old and is cutting her first two teeth. Fun times for mom and dad.
The kids flying kites. One positive thing about not having a tree in the front lawn anymore is that we can fly kites there. The powerlines are in the back of the house.
My friend came over that day and we made bread together while the Alan flew kites with the kids. Her little boy is 2 months older than Olivia.
