Trip home

On the way home we stopped in the Salt Lake area to see a few friends.  This is one of my roommates when I was at Ricks College (BYU-I).  It will always be Ricks to me.  I had the best roommates in the world!  We had so much fun and we all got along.  We are all still friends to this day.  You know you have a true friend when you can go years without seeing each other but when you finally get together it was like you never left.  Our kids played and we talked and ate.  It was a perfect evening.

We also got to see a friend who used to live in our ward in Kentucky (Peggy).  Her husband passed away while we were in Nauvoo so we didn't have time to make it across the country for the funeral.  Alan was made bishop a year or so before they left Kentucky and moved to Utah.  We just had to stop and see her and show our love and support.  She is an awesome lady!  Her son Robbie is on a mission in California.  I just can't imagine being on a mission and finding out that your dad has passed away.  He is a strong young man.  He was one of my seminary students when I taught early morning seminary.  We love this family!

We had to stop along the way and see the Kansas City temple.  It is beautiful!

We also stopped at the visitors center.  It was a great place to stop.  We had a great tour telling the story of the early pioneers and their struggles in that area.  It was very touching and spiritual.  They had the cutest kids play area.  It was a much needed break for the kids. We were halfway through day 2 of our drive home.  We traveled 14-15 hours each day to make it home in 2 days leaving from my aunts house in Wyoming.

Livy loved the rocking chair and baby.

Nicholas was just so happy to be out of his car seat.  He was a great traveler but every time we would open up the van door to get back in after a stop he would scream and arch his back to make it very difficult to buckle him.  Once we got on the road he was fine.  If he got a little fussy I would just give him a sucker and he would be great.  It was a very messy and sticky but it was worth the peace and quiet.  He was a good little sleeper too.
